The Limestone Coast Landscape Board acknowledges and respects the traditional owners of the ancestral lands of the region. We acknowledge elders past and present and we respect the deep feelings of attachment and relationship of Aboriginal peoples to country.
This project supports non-biased Kalawa (talk to one another) between the Board and key Aboriginal organisations within the Limestone Coast. The Aboriginal Engagement Coordinator will coordinate Kalawa and support Aboriginal led partnerships and projects.
Through Kalawa, opportunities for Aboriginal inclusion in landscape management will be identified and progressed
South East Aboriginal Focus Group
A Memorandum of Understanding between the South East Aboriginal Focus Group and the Limestone Coast Landscape Board has been developed and agreed to by the Aboriginal Focus Group.
The group meets regularly to discuss various natural resource management issues in relation to Aboriginal owned or managed land. One of the key roles of the group is to provide the board with advice regarding natural resource management issues.
